Clan Strachan Armigers

The following individuals have personal arms of their own as evidenced by "letters patent" from Her Majesty's Lord Lyon King of Arms. As "Scottish Armigers" they are enobled due to the nobility clause included in a grant of Scottish Arms.   Armigers are entitled to use the "Esq." title after their names.  This title [Esquire] refers to people of gentry, and is an official title in Scotland [unlike other parts of the world].  Scottish Armigers may also wear a single feather in their bonnet (and/or behind their crest badge) indicating they are an Officer of the Clan.

These individuals are our Clan's nobility,  members of the Derbhfine of the Clan, the Clan gentry, second in rank to the Chief and his immediate family. They are clansmen of distinction with a certain role in the management of the Clan in our times.

Although an organization is unable to be an "Armiger", which by definition must be an individual, our Society is recognized as an Armigerous Society, a noble incorporation, and is the acknowledged voice of Clan Strachan in Scotland thus recognized by HM Lord Lyon, King of Arms. In the near future, the Society plans to establish itself also as a Charitable Trust in Scotland.

Although the Society will be unable to vote or participate at Derbhfine meetings, a Society Representative will typically be present.
