Membership in the Clan Strachan Society is not restricted, and is available to any man or women bearing the Strachan surname (broadly defined), any person who has an ancestor born a Strachan, or any person with an affinity to Clan Strachan.

Scottish Armorial Bearings:  Consultation in how to obtain your own Scottish Arms, and various requirements, restrictions, and conditions.

Clan Library.  Access our online library, and also borrow various books from our library for only the cost of shipping.

Full Transparency:  Obtain and review current and past financial statements, tax returns, and  other proprietary information regarding the Society.

Voting Rights as defined in the Society's Bylaws all members in good standing over the age of 18 have the right to elect all Society officers and directors, and may  run for office. 

Society Publications:  Access to pre-release pdf drafts of all Society articles before they go into publication.

Types of Membership:

There are several types of memberships defined in the Society Bylaws. Membership types also be further defined in past or future amendments to the Bylaws. The Society Board of Directors recommend all members and prospective members read and understand the these and other important documents located online at the bottom of the Privacy & Legal webpage.  For general membership, the following currently applies:

Effective December 9, 2009, the Board of Directors put into effect the following member criteria.  All persons over the age of 18 are eligible for membership.
